Geografía física Situada al este del río Danubio, constituye una gran cubeta de subsidencia rellenada por éste y otros ríos que descienden de los Cárpatos. Se caracteriza por las tierras llanas cultivadas, en oposición a las estepas dedicadas a pastoreo o puszta. Los montes Bakony las dividen en Kisalföld (Pequeña Llanura) y Nagy Magyar Alföld (Gran Llanura).
