Trayectoria artística Descendiente de españoles por vía paterna, estudió en la Universidad de California en Berkeley, donde se graduó en Ciencias y en Literatura inglesa (1961); en 1961 se licenció en Bellas Artes por la Universidad de Yale, donde trabajó con Josef Albers y entró en contacto con artistas de la Escuela de Nueva York como Philip Guston, Robert Rauschenberg, Ad Reinhardt y Frank Stella.
