Fórmula química: CH3CH2-CH2COOH. Variante del ácido butírico. Es un ácido orgánico saturado, de cuatro átomos de carbono. Líquido incoloro de olor rancio y penetrante, soluble en agua. Se emplea en síntesis de perfumes e ingredientes para aromatizaciones.
